Air Cadets support Remembrance Day One occasion guaranteed to motivate Dunstable Air Cadets is the annual Remembrance Day, when 460 (Dunstable) Squadron joins the local community in remembering and honouring the country’s servicemen. The Squadron also takes pride in helping the Royal British Legion to raise money for those who still need their support. Last Sunday 8th November the Squadron turned out in force to march behind the squadron banner to the town’s war memorial. The parade featured a large turnout of veterans, civic and youth groups and, despite intermittent rain, a healthy crowd lined the route between Grove House Gardens and Priory Church to watch and pay their own respects. After the two minute silence at 11:00am, poppy wreaths were laid and standards were lowered in memory of the dead. The parade was followed by a service in Priory Church led by the Revd. Richard Andrews. The Parade Commander, Flt. Lt. Mick Bell was pleased and impressed by the Air Cadet’s conduct. After dismissing the parade he said: “We should rightly be proud of these young cadets. All have shown a great respect and understanding of Remembrance Day, and all performed impeccably”. Cadet Cpl Jason Philby is seen bearing the Dunstable Town Mace on the march to Priory Church, followed by the Mayor of Dunstable, Cllr. Patricia Russell and MP for South West Beds Andrew Selous. |
