SQUADRON CAMP 2011 - FOLKESTONE During the bank holiday week in August the cadets set off for Folkestone, to an Army Training Camp right by the sea. The cadets of Dunstable squadron followed by cadets from Holbeach and Newmarket squadron arrive in Dunstable at 7pm on the Friday evening ready to pack all of the kit into the vehicles which have been kindly provided my many MOD establishments throughout Bedfordshire. Dunstable squadron never travel light and like to pack as much kit as they can in as many vehicles as they can get there hands on. Early on the Saturday morning.......... yes early, the cadets were up at 03:30am......... for a departure at 5am. Kit all packed the night before, the cadets trying to catch up on sleep in the busses and the staff on there 2nd cup of coffee headed out into the darkness of Dunstable to start what would be a fantastic week for all. Travelling down in a convoy of 10 vehicles, stopping at the Dartford bridge services at 7am and then onto Folkestone for 9am for the take over of the building and accommodation for the week. The camp was a full packed week consisting of al lot of adventure training, First Aid Exercises, Night & Day exercises, Security Patrols, Ration pack cooking in the field, a day trip to a local town and much much more.
